January is here! The time of the year to make loads of New Year’s resolutions has finally arrived! But before we start making promises to ourselves most of which (we already know) we will not keep, why not start with undoing our Christmas food indulgence?!

Here are a few suggestions to help you get back into shape:
1.Always leave the table a little bit hungry
2.Have 80% alkaline and only 20% acidic diet
3.Try to have one salad meal every day at which you do not eat meat protein or carbohydrates
4.Stay active – this is the best way to eliminate the toxins from our system!

With the Carnival in full swing, what better way to deal with the hangover then a tried and tested French onion soup! The French parties tend to start late and go on until the early hours of the following day. In most houses you will find the following soup being prepared in the aftermath of the ‘night before’. Try it for hangover and let us know how you got on!
You will need: 2.5 pounds of onions (red or white will do), ½ portion of unsalted butter or 3tbsp of olive oil, 4 cups of stock (veg or beef), freshly ground black pepper, some parmesan cheese, French baguette, salt and pepper.
The method:
Slice the onions, let the butter melt slowly in a pot (unless using the oil), when it foams up, add the onions. Make sure you continue to stir them for a while, add a little bit of salt. Now turn the heat down and let them cook slowly for 40min up to an hour. When the onions reach a deep dark colour, pour in the stock. Bring it all gently to a boil, then reduce the heat to minimum and let it simmer for another hour. Season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with some parmesan cheese and serve immediately with croutons or French baguette!

There is nothing better to ignite the Christmas spirit than a bit of fun! Here is the Truth About Men & Christmas from our recent opinion poll: • 34% of men are pretty confident that despite their best efforts they have most probably managed not to get what their other significant half wanted for Christmas … again!* 46% of men admitted getting the present idea right at least one – that’s when they were told exactly what to buy.
• 18% of men say they are willing to help out with the Christmas preparations ‘within reason’.
• For 23% of men Christmas is a time when they are forced to do the jobs they have been gladly putting off for the past twelve months.
• 100% of all the men surveyed told us that they absolutely adore this special time of the year!

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

What better to warm us up on those cold winter nights than a cup of hot mulled wine! Here is a great recipe:

Juice of 2 large oranges
6 sticks of cinnamon
12 whole cloves
¼ tsp. of nutmeg
1/8 tsp. of ginger
1/8 tsp. of allspice
1/3 cup of sugar
Dry Red wine

Personal Mastery - Lesson 2: The quality of the questions you ask yourself will determine the quality of the life you live. Make sure to ask more 'How' as opposed to 'Why?' questions (e.g.'How can I make it better?' rather than 'Why me?')

Today we want to invite you to our Personal Mastery Programme!
We want to help you create the life you deserve! Each day we will be posting a lesson containing an important truth in self-mastery.

Lesson 1: 'Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you.'
Henry Ward Beecher

Question to ask yourself: ‘What are my personal standards? What do I expect from myself and how determined am I to deliver on that expectation?’

Not knowing what our personal standards are can often lead to other people taking advantage of us. Knowing that you deserve to be respected and valued (as an example) means that you will not let anybody treat you any other way. Expecting a lot of yourself is equally important, the more you expect, the higher you aim, the more you can achieve!

If you have ever found yourself walking down the charming narrow streets of any of the old towns in Brittany (our favourite is Dinan!), tempted by the irresistible taste of French food coming from the hundreds of intimate, small restaurants, if you love French food or simply want to taste something new, this one is for you! There is nothing more traditional than GALETTES – large brown crepes/pancakes. If you have ever tasted them, it is hard to forget how delicious they are! Now with the recipe below you can bring a bit of France to your own house!

250g of buckwheat flour
2 tsp of plain flour
1 pinch of salt/pinch of pepper
1 egg
2 tsp of oil
500ml of boiled water (cooled)

Preparation:
Mix the buckwheat flour with the egg yolk, ad water. Whisk the egg whites until firm, adding salt and pepper, very slowly then adding the plain flour and oil. Gently mix the egg whites with the buckwheat mixture. Wait 1hr. Remember to use minimal amounts of oil/butter when making galettes. Form large, round, very thin crepe-like shapes. Serve with grated cheese, tomatoes, ham / sausages / seaweed & smoked salmon or go for a sweet option (fruit, nutella, jam)!
