Carey’s Newsagents & Bookstore is one of 20 Erris employers who have signed up with Weekly WorkSPACE, a unique initiative by the Erris Chamber of Commerce and Erris Workability!

📸 Brian Bakeberg (Chairperson, Erris Chamber of Commerce), Lorraine O’Connor (Carey’s) and Rosemarie Mangan (Leader, Erris Workability).

Weekly WorkSPACE (Supported Placements And Collaborative Employment) allows local businesses to open their doors to supported work experience in a simple, but effective way, by asking employers to allocate just 1 hour per week as a work experience space for a client, with Erris Workability assigning a dedicated Job Coach to accompany and support each person throughout their placement.

The initiative is entirely free of charge to participating employers with all training and workplace integration managed by the Job Coach at no cost to the business.

A big thank you to Lorraine O’Connor from Carey’s Newsagents, Main Street Belmullet, for sponsoring a set of jersys for our girls underage teams.

Team Photo taken after playing Killala FC to go through to round 3 of the shield. The girls played very well against a team in a division above them to win 2-1 (scorers Hazel and Abbey). One of the goals coming from Lilly in the backs making it to Anna and finished by Hazel and the other, a lovely volley from Abbey from about 20 yards out!

All the girls played a fantastic game of football with the wind against them the first half they really had their work cut out for them but their hard work, level of fitness and support for each other made it worth it all and a bit more relaxing for the second half. Thank you to all the support on the sidelines that helped the girls to keep motivated and to help them celebrate in their win! Well done to Killala for travelling to play in a great game.
