Overview
Join the Tipperary Youth Arts Hub and artist Mags Rudnicka for a creative Halloween Mask Workshop!
This hands-on workshop is an opportunity to explore ideas, materials and techniques for designing and building imaginative Halloween masks. Together we'll experiment with shape, texture and character, discovering how simple materials can be transformed into unique creations inspired by folklore, nature and Halloween traditions.
Participants will develop a strong starting point, learn practical making techniques and leave with the confidence, ideas and guidance needed to continue and finish their masks.
During this workshop together, we will:
Explore ideas and inspiration for Halloween masks inspired by local folklore, nature, creatures and seasonal traditions.
Learn techniques for creating mask bases using cardboard, papier-mâché, recycled and found materials.
Experiment with texture, colour and decorative elements to develop expressive characters.
Start your own mask and learn how to continue the making process step by step.
Discover creative ways to collect and share local Halloween stories, traditions and memories through mask-making, encouraging conversation, storytelling and connections between generations and communities.
Gain practical ideas for adapting this activity for youth groups, festivals and community arts programmes.
Participants will leave with a mask in progress, a clear understanding of the making process, practical tips for completing their work, and plenty of creative ideas to bring back to their own practice.
This workshop is ideal for youth workers and artists interested in creative, participatory arts practice with young people. No previous experience is required, and all materials are provided.
