I am going to ask Β£400 for Winston Smith. I looked up what I paid for him a few years back and he cost me Β£300. Plus getting him shipped to me, so I think that's reasonable considering he looked very different then. πŸ™‚ They aren't nearly as common as rockers as they tended to be taken (and left) outside more, so less of them survived.
I was thinking about removing the green and varnishing the platform instead, but he looks perfectly ok as he is. I wouldn't let your toddler loose on him though, he is now retired. πŸ™‚

Well, I had a go at Christians first post this morning but I'm afraid it's a reject. 😳 It was always going to be tricky using the timber we had here, but by the time the post was turned, it was not to the sizes I had taken from Jack's posts. Also it has wandered off of the correct pattern.
Never mind, I have put it under the bench with the other duff posts.
When I next have some money, I will get some timber that is a bit bigger.

Merrylegs is now provisionally spoken for. πŸ™‚ Well done little man.

All this metalwork belongs to Christian. I'm not painting it all black, it's been sprayed silver and I will lacquer it too. I think I will have a nice light oak colour for his new stand so that the whole effect is nice and light.
If he was a Scots Grey, the metalwork would all have been silvered anyway.

Kipper has had his rosettes made. He's the only horse here that has any at the moment. He deserves a bit of bling, considering he arrived looking like a hearth rug. His saddle has been ordered so hopefully he will soon be complete. πŸ™‚

Right, these are the horses that will be looking for new homes. Remember that they aren't all finished yet! Kipper will be done first out of the three boys, Merrylegs and Winston Smith are ready now. Descriptions in photos. I'm not answering questions if the answer is in the post, please read them ! πŸ˜„
Still pondering some of the prices, but Kipper will be Β£800 and Ranger Β£700. Merrylegs Β£250, which since there is one on eBay for over a grand, seems quite reasonable. πŸ˜„

I think I am going to have to part with some of these fellows. I think Winston Smith here, Merrylegs, Christian, Kipper and Ranger are on the list. Hard, but I'm never going to get the current house finished if I keep them all.

I've glued and screwed the bottom planks together. I used a lot of pencilled lines to help me keep straight, all done with a right angle.
I suppose I'd better get on and have a go at some posts, annoying as I've just got my phone to Bluetooth to a speaker out here, I can't listen to Operation Mincemeat with the lathe going....

A couple of other things. A metal bush in the hoof rails, I don't see these very often and a shot of the old bowler hats vs the new ones, the old ones have a bit more decorative detail on them.

Miles is doing the routing for me. I can do it, but dislike it. I think chamfers were probably done with a plane in the old days and I'm fine with a plane, but not for this job...
