NEW – CAVAN FARMERS MARKET

This Friday, 14th August, we're bringing fresh, local food directly to Cavan Town, Cootehill and Ballyconnell.

🥬 Certified organic vegetables
🌱 Grown locally and in season
🥕 Harvested within 12–24 hours of the market

This Friday we'll have a great organic, seasonal selection including kale, spinach, onions, leeks, cabbage, beetroot, carrots, potatoes, garlic, courgettes, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, herbs, salad leaves and rainbow chard.

📍 Cavan Town – Conaty Centre | 11am–3pm
📍 Cootehill – Opp. White Horse | 4:30–5:30pm
📍 Ballyconnell – Old Courthouse | 6:30–7pm

The widest selection will be available in Cavan, with availability reducing as we travel to each collection point.

An incredible local collaboration is underway this evening at the People & Planet Wellness Retreat!

We’ve teamed up with Chef Norbert from to supply beautiful, locally grown produce for one of seven exclusive Supper Series events in the lead-up to

Chef Norbert’s menu tonight showcases fresh harvests directly from our Green Box producers - including Organic Rainbow Chard, Bunched Beets, Red Russian & Curly Kales, French String Beans, Fresh Basil, Rhubarb and Cherry Tomatoes alongside local favourites Corleggy Cheese and Mary Ellen’s Elderflower!

Meet the team behind the Summer Cottage Market 20nd the Summer Cottage Market 2026.

From early morning setup to the final pack-down, this small team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create a weekend that welcomed thousands of visitors to Con Smith Park.

Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen – our funders, traders, performers, artists, partners and, of course, everyone who came along to support local.

A firm favourite with the Cavan community, The DineYard proudly showcases an all-local line-up of incredible Cavan-based food producers. Here's a taste of what's on the menu:
– Sweet and savoury churros, spud spirals and refreshing homemade lemonade.
– Pork and lamb hotdogs, pork & apple burgers, Italian-style meatballs with rice or loaded nachos.
– Sweet frozen treats to keep the whole family smiling.
– Signature bao buns with pork belly, shredded duck hoisin or crispy cauliflower.
– Popular vegan favourites, including the much-loved Buddha Bowl. nua – Freshly baked breads, cakes, pastries, traybakes and macarons. Plus a bowl celebrating (See next slide.)
– Homemade sausage rolls, cakes, tea and coffee.
– Authentic pizza and pasta, freshly prepared.

Grab your favourites and enjoy them in our alfresco DineYard.

The Summer Cottage Market is a free outdoor event presented by The Cottage Market Cavan, with the support of Created in Cavan and Cavan County Council.

Our new 15M x 15M stretch tent its getting its first outing in Con Smith Park this weekend. Who better than to bust its cherry, than these pair, Bernie, Jimmy and Romero!

Join us at 12 noon for What Are We Eatin' Anyways? – a 40-minute comedy-drama following Jimmy and Bridie as they navigate modern food choices and rediscover the importance of local food systems.

Straight afterwards, Shercock-based chef Elizabeth Quiñones will demonstrate how to create a delicious brunch using seasonal ingredients from the Local Green Box.

This weekend at the Summer Cottage Market, meet the people, projects and organisations helping make County Cavan such a special place to live.

• Bernie from sharing the fascinating world of beekeeping
• Visit award-winning horticulturalist Barry Kavanagh with his selection of nature-based plants
• Explore Hopetown with Patricia from Active Travel
• Help create Pieced Together, an interactive community collage with

You'll also have the chance to explore the new Honesty Box Trail, celebrating County Cavan's growing network of farm-gate honesty boxes.

To top it all off, we're delighted to welcome the Latvia–Cavan Twinning celebrations, adding an international flavour to the weekend with authentic Latvian crafts, traditional food, and the opportunity to experience Latvian culture and heritage.
