Experience the unmatched hospitality and Christmas magic of magnificent Connemara! 🎄💫

Clifden, the Capital of Connemara is delighted to announce its festive schedule of late night shopping and family fun events for Christmas 2023.

Friday November 24th kicks off the season with the spectacular switching on of the Christmas lights by a very special guest. Then the first two weekends in December see a packed calendar of events with locations all over town hosting Christmas markets, festive workshops, Christmas films and sparkling family entertainment and hospitality events.

The switching on ceremony on November 24th is a favourite nationwide tradition marking the beginning of the festive season, and this year the town is thrilled to confirm 💫Mr Ryan Tubridy💫 as its very special guest of honour to press the button for the town’s dazzling display.

Of course VVIP special guests Santa and the North Pole Elves, as well as the Christmas Fairy will be on hand over the festive period, guiding children and their parents from storytelling to facepainting venues and other family fun events.

Crowds will be entertained by street performers and special guests including The Village Community Choir Galway, school choirs, children’s dance and drama performances, concerts in the theatre and churches and our famous world-class musical street entertainment from Nick and Shona on the square. Hot drinks and mulled wine will keep everyone cosy and add to the atmosphere alongside food stalls and the myriad dining and refreshment opportunities Clifden has to offer. Music and craic will be had as ever in our bars and hotels.

Book your visit now!
