Carrigaline Pottery established a trade in 'souvenir' items, decorative Irish themed ceramics before their closure.

Dan O Connell, a previous manager with Carrigaline Pottery, started Carrig Craft to continue the production of souvenir ware for existing customers, supplying Quills etc.
This included some decorative pieces also.
Stock remained after his and his successors demise.

So I've been lucky enough to acquire the remaining stock!!

Hi all.
I've been into Carrigaline Pottery for a while now, and have been lucky enough to become the current guardian of 'Carrig Craft'...
To understand the connection between Carrigaline Pottery and Carrig Craft, here's a little history....

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆

1928 - May.
Hodder Walworth Blacker-Roberts (Carrigaline) and L.T. Keeling (Stoke-on-Trent) opened with 6 employees, and used the local Carrigaline 'red clay' that we see on early pieces. The stamps at this time were primarily 'Carrig Ware' 'Made in Carrigaline Co Cork'

1928 - July
A company was formed, Carrigaline Pottery Ltd.

1932-
New extension completed

1936-
They started to import white clay from Devon. This notably was carried by boat up river to the factory.

1952
The company was up to 160 employees. New stamps were introduced - the impressed 'Carrigaline Co Cork', or 'Carrigaline Ireland' and the transfer stamp in green with shamrocks. See Pic

1967
This was the high point of the pottery manufacturing, from this period we would know all the popular designs

1970 - Easter
A fire broke out in the factory, halting production for 4 weeks completely.

1979- July
The Carrigaline Pottery factory closed

1980
A German National, Lutz Kiel took over the factory and it reopened as Cork Art Pottery. This was a limited run unfortunately

1983
The workers at the Pottery bravely formed a co-op (Carrigdhoun Pottery coop) to ensure the future of the pottery. They started with 47 members, this grew to 100. However they only continued for 6 years until 1989. It must be noted that this period in Ireland there was massive economic recession

1989
A Brazilian family took over the Pottery. It continued to manufacture but also struggled.

1995
Stephen Pearce, established potter, came in to the Pottery to support the owners, and eventually run it under the name Carrigaline Pottery Ireland LTD.

2000
The Pottery building was sold to make way for local infrastructure upgrades, and manufacturing was moved to a rented premises in Carrigaline

2003
Carrigaline Pottery Ireland LTD ceased trading completely

2004
The old Pottery building was demolished
