Another big milestone reached ❤️

Today, after what feels like a very long road, I’m finally preparing to leave hospital.

It’s now a month since my stem cell transplant, and the last few weeks have been some of the toughest of this entire journey. There have been plenty of ups and downs and a few complications along the way, but the really important news is that the transplant is working! My new blood and immune system is growing, my counts are recovering well, and I remain cancer free 🙏

I know there is still a long road ahead. I’ll be closely monitored, my immune system has a lot of rebuilding to do, and recovery from all of this will take time. But today I get to walk out of hospital — and right now that feels absolutely enormous 🥹
Thank you once again to everyone who has sent messages, cards, good wishes and support, and especially to my wonderful staff who have kept everything going at the pharmacy while I’ve been away. I’ve read far more of your messages than I’ve managed to reply to, and they’ve meant a huge amount to me.

One step at a time. Today is a pretty big one. ❤️

A little update…

Firstly, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send messages, cards, prayers and good wishes to me and my family over the past few months. Your kindness has been overwhelming and has given me great strength during some very difficult days.

As many of you know, I was diagnosed with leukaemia back in march. It’s certainly been the biggest challenge of my life, but I’m very grateful to say that my treatment has been progressing well

After 4 months in hospital I’m currently enjoying a few weeks at home, focusing on rebuilding my strength before the next stage of my treatment. It’s wonderful to be home with my family, although I’m learning that recovery takes time and patience.

The next major step in my journey will be a stem cell transplant in early September. While it will be another challenging chapter, I’m approaching it with hope and determination, knowing it offers me the best chance of a full recovery.

I also want to reassure all of our patients that Brodericks Chemist continues to be in excellent hands. Our wonderful team has been doing an incredible job caring for our patients and keeping everything running smoothly. I couldn’t be more grateful to each and every one of them.

Thank you again for your continued support, kindness and encouragement. It has meant far more than you’ll ever know.

To all my wonderful patients and customers,

I wanted to share a personal update with you. Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with a serious illness and I will need hospital care for an extended time.

This has not been an easy message to write, as the pharmacy, barrack street and the relationships I have built with so many of you mean a great deal to me. I am incredibly grateful for your continued support, understanding, and kindness during this time.

Please be assured that the pharmacy remains in very capable hands, and the team will continue to look after you with the same care and professionalism you are used to.

I hope to be back with you when I am well enough. Until then, thank you again for your patience and support—it truly means more than I can say.
