Elliott Potterton reported a much improved entry of cattle that met an equally improved trade. Demand was considerably stronger for forward and well fleshed bullocks peaking at over €4.40pk.

In the sheep yard Thomas Potterton presided over the special Charolias Society Ram sale where the overall champion presented by Gerry and Dymphna Grogan sold for €1040 and a clearance rate of 65% was effected.

Sheep trade again remained strong with a much improved entry of sheep presented for sale.

Thomas Potterton pictured at Trim Show before the crowds descended on a great day of family fun and excitement. REA TE Potterton are long standing supporters of the Trim show and Thomas Potterton commented on the “Quality across the board” of all stock presented in the various categories and congratulated all the winners and runners-up.

Congratulations to the 2026 International Rose of Tralee
🌹Caoilfhinn Ní Choiligh🌹.

What a moment for Caoilfhinn, and what a night for Westmeath. At just 25, Caoilfhinn has been selected as the 2026 International Rose of Tralee, becoming only the second Westmeath Rose to receive the honour.

Congratulations to our 2026 International Rose of Tralee, Caoilfhinn Ní Choiligh. What a moment for Caoilfhinn, and what a night for Westmeath. At just 25, Caoilfhinn has been selected as the 2026 International Rose of Tralee, becoming only the second Westmeath Rose to receive the honour.

Her story has already touched so many people. After losing her hair to alopecia at the age of 15, Caoilfhinn turned that experience into something deeply meaningful and is now studying to become a wig maker alongside her work in retail. Tonight, after two unforgettable nights at the Kerry Sports Academy at MTU, Caoilfhinn received her sash from our 2025 Rose of Tralee, Katelyn Cummins and will now will make her way to Tralee to be welcomed by thousands at Midnight Madness!
