Lucan Fabrics Lucan Fabrics supplies contract & domestic materials to Upholsterers, Interior Designers, Architects & Curtains Makers. Part of that factory still stands today.

The company formed from the closure of Hill and Sons, which was based in Lucan next to the bridge. Hill and Sons was one of the longest running mills in the country, producing tweeds for clothing in the early years, then moving to spinning yarns for carpets, to manufacturing upholstery fabrics for contract applications such as bars, restaurants, offices and airplanes. One of the most rewarding contracts we did was to weave the fabrics to cover the whole of the Aer Lingus fleet. In those days up to 120 people worked in the factory, many of which lived in the areas such as Sarsfield Park, Weir View and Millbank. Today Lucan Fabrics is now based in Glasnevin, and still supplies contract and domestic materials to Upholsterers, Interior Designers, Architects and Curtain makers. We stock fabrics in our warehouse, much of which is Irish made, while some others are imported from both near and far.
