Loads of you have been asking, so we are very happy to announce that canned pumpkin is back! 🎃

It still feels very early for pumpkin, but this autumn weather is making us crave tea, candles, and pumpkin bread (recipe coming soon!)

As always, quantities are limited of the canned pumpkin and it tends to fly out, so be sure to get in early to get some. And while you’re in, sign a letter for our campaign to stop Shannon LNG! Letters will be available in shop on Rathmines as of Saturday ✉️

What’s the deal with this Shannon LNG project, and why should you even care about it? Here some slides with just a few of the reasons why we are so opposed to this whole thing.

Honestly, with everything we know to be true about fossil fuels and climate change, this feels like a scene from Don’t Look Up. We are in a climate emergency, and yet the Irish government wants to approve a project that would contribute to the emergency. You read that right- this project would make things WORSE, and our government is strongly considering it.

We need to make sure they clearly understand that WE DO NOT WANT THIS. Us, the ones who elected them. We don’t want to harm more Irish biodiversity and lock in to a dependency on fossil fuels until 2050. If they won’t listen to the scientists, maybe they’ll listen to the people who voted for them.

So please, come by the shop and sign a letter. We will get them posted off for you. All you need to do is come by the shop between September 5th and 12th, and we will do the rest for you.

We can’t take this lying down. We are at a pivotal moment for our future and the future of our planet, and we cannot just let projects like this to go ahead.

JOIN OUR LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN!

We are DISGUSTED that our government is even considering approving the Shannon LNG project. The Dail declared a national climate and biodiversity emergency on May 9, 2019, and yet no meaningful changes have been made since then… and now they’re considering locking us in to dependency on fracked gas until 2050.

Over the next week, we will be sharing more information on the proposed terminal, the damage it will cause to Ireland (ecologically, and financially!), and why you should care about it.

The weather may have cooled off slightly, and it’s easy to forget about the climate crisis, but we cannot continue on with business as usual. This is an emergency, and approving the construction of the Shannon LNG project just shows how little our government cares for people and planet.

We must demand more from the people we elected to represent us.

Please join us any time between September 5th and 12th to sign a preprinted letter, or write your own letter. We will handle the rest- the envelopes, addressing, and postage.

Let’s make sure our voices are heard- we need to move in the right direction, towards a future where clean energy is the norm, and we protect our biodiversity. Remember, every single degree of warming is critically important, so our actions now will have a major effect on the future for the young people of today.

We have over 700 products in the shop, so even if you’re a regular customer, there are bound to be products you’ve missed!

Here are a few of our ‘unsung heroes’, or underrated products that we think you need to know about!

This stuff removes anything that’s stuck on and annoying to remove. Dirty sink? Stubborn bits of burnt food on your stovetop? Oven need a scrub? This stuff will get all of it off, with very little effort (and no fumes!)

It’s hard enough to be gluten intolerant/celiac without having to eat dry crumbly alternatives. This flour from Doves is a blend of gluten free flours, so it actually acts like a regular flour!

When it comes to all natural deodorants, it can be hard to find the right one for you. This one from ThreeHillsSoap is made in Meath, it’s all natural, refillable, and best of all… it WORKS!

No more bitter decaf coffee here! This delicious Swiss water coffee from Imbibe Coffee Roasters is just as good as their caffeinated one (which is excellent), and it’s roasted right here in Dublin, just a couple kms from the shop!

If you’ve ever had a really delicious vegan ‘chicken’ burger, chances are, it was made from vital wheat gluten. Incredibly high in protein (80g of protein per 100g!), this stuff is easy to use, and is a staple for anyone looking to go plant based!

This is the last video (for now) in our TGN Kids Baking Club series. We love a mug cake because it’s so easy to make, minimal cleanup, and you can add top it with whatever you have at home.

A nice easy recipe for a movie night, after school snack, or even a special weekend breakfast 😋.

All you need is a mug and a microwave!

Ingredients
-30g plain flour
-2 tbsp cacao powder
-1/4 tsp baking powder
-2.5 tbsp caster sugar
-100ml plant based milk
-2 tbsp vegetable oil
-spoonful of chocolate hazelnut butter

Instructions
-mix all the ingredients together EXCEPT the nut butter
-drop the spoonful of nut butter in the top but don’t stir it in
-microwave for 90-100 seconds, then let cool for a couple minutes… it’s HOT!!!

Top with fresh or frozen fruit, ice cream, whipped cream, or eat it as is!

As always, we have the recipe cards for this, and all of our other recipes in the series, for free in the shop. Visit us at 39/40 Castlewood Ave with your jars and get baking 🥣
