We were delighted to be back hosting the Lower Liffey Race on Sunday after a hiatus in 2025. It was fantastic to see so many paddlers out enjoying the racing on one of the best courses on the calendar, even with the low water levels!

Thanks to Salmon Leap Canoe Club, Canoe Marathon Ireland, our whole team here at the Canoe Centre and of course all of you guys who showed up to race, shuttle and support.

The 2026 Lower Liffey Race is just one week away!
Low water or no water, we'll have a great day of racing regardless.

With long and short course options and divisions for all, the Lower Liffey Race is the perfect warm up for the Liffey Descent. A great opportunity to check your lines, tune up at race pace or scope out the competition.

Race start is 12 Noon and entries will be taken on the day until 11AM at Salmon Leap Canoe Club.
Long course: Start SLCC, one lap of the lake and finish at Canoe Centre.
Short Course: Start SLCC, finish at Canoe Centre.

**NB**
The Lucan Festival is also taking place the same weekend so traffic will be restriced in and out of Lucan village. Expect delays all day.

The 2026 edition of the Lower Liffey Race is just two weeks away.
Sunday 6th September, 12 noon start, Salmon Leap CC to Canoe Centre.

The water levels will be low, so dig out those old boats from behind the shed or the end of the garden and come join us for a great days racing.

We'll be rolling out our usual hospitality at the finish with Watkins burgers, refreshments and a new addition, recovery sessions at Riverbank Sauna for all paddlers!

The Lower Liffey is a great opportunity to get your blades in the water and scope out some lines before the Liffey Descent two weeks later.
Entries on the day at Salmon Leap CC until 11AM.
