Did you know that the ‘toi et moi’ ring (meaning you and me) dates back to late 18th Century in France.

It gained historical fame in 1796 when Napoleon proposed to Josephine with a tear-shaped sapphire and diamond toi et moi ring that symbolises two stones set side by side representing two souls, united.

Peridot was first discovered and mined around 1500 BCE by ancient Egyptians on a volcanic island in the Red Sea, known today as St John’s Island or Zabargad.

Historians believe many famous ancient jewels - including Cleopatras celebrated emerald collection were actually peridots.

They also called peridot the ‘gem of the sun’ because its luminous green quality made the crystals visible even at night.
