Taiwan Travelogue is back in stock! And what an exciting and worthy winner of this year’s International Booker Prize. We were lucky enough to be at the ceremony and were blown away by the acceptance speeches from author, Yáng Shuāng-zǐ, and translator, Lin King. They spoke with such clarity and insight about the importance of literature in translation as well as the complex history of Taiwan and its place in the world today. Natasha Brown, Chair of judges, says “Taiwan Travelogue pulls off an incredible double feat: it succeeds as both a romance and an incisive postcolonial novel.[…] It’s a captivating, slyly sophisticated novel.”

Those who pay *very* close attention to small details may have noticed a poster outside the shop this past week which also celebrates said novel! Their editor from spoke so passionately about the book’s spot-on social commentary as well as its humour and nostalgia (2001!🫠).
