Celebrating 70 Years of ABC Fishing Tackle! 🎣

It is a milestone year for the shop. Since the doors first opened back in 1956, ABC Fishing Tackle has been more than just a business—it has been our family’s way of life.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the foundation laid by Lilly, who started this journey seven decades ago, and the incredible legacy continued by Allen. Their passion for the water and this community is built into every shelf and counter in the store, and we are honored to keep that tradition cast wide for the next generation.

To celebrate 70 years of service, we are hosting some special days in-store to say thank you to the anglers who have been with us through the decades. We are clearing out a massive amount of inventory to make room for what is next, which means you can grab essential gear at prices that simply will not be repeated.

What’s Happening In-Store:

Deep Discounts: We have marked down a huge selection of rods, reels, and terminal tackle. These items must go!

We’ve received so many kind messages asking about the shop, and we want to officially let everyone know that ABC Fishing Tackle is remaining open.

As a family, it means everything to us to carry on the legacy that Allen built here. We are so grateful for this community and for the support you’ve shown us during this transition.

Our Current Temporary Hours:

Monday: Closed

Tuesday – Saturday: 10:00am – 3:00pm

Sunday: Closed

As we drove past ABC Fishing Tackle with the hearse, we were truly overwhelmed to see so many people standing outside, paying their respects.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came and shared a moment of remembrance. It meant more to our family than words can ever express.

Allen was incredibly proud of his shop, his customers, and the fishing community. Seeing the respect and love shown today reminded us just how many lives he touched over the years.

🖤 In Loving Memory of Allen Prosser 🖤

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Allen Prosser, beloved owner of ABC Fishing Tackle in Mary’s Abbey, Dublin, sadly passed away on Sunday, 21st December 2025.

Allen wasn’t just a fisherman’s friend — he was a fixture in this community for decades, welcoming generations of anglers, sharing stories, advice, and a passion for the sport we all love. His generosity, kindness, and commitment to everyone who walked through the shop door will never be forgotten.

He will be deeply missed by his family — Phillip, Bronagh, Alex, Christiaan, and Tianna — and by all his friends, associates, and loyal customers.

The hearse will pause outside the shop in Mary’s Abbey at 11:00am on Monday, 29th December as a final farewell to Allen for all who would like to pay their respects. A small family service will take place later in the day.

For those wishing to honour his memory, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland — a cause close to Allen’s heart.

Thank you for all the support, kind messages, and memories shared during this time. Let’s celebrate a great man who gave so much to our fishing community. 🎣🕊️

*** WE'RE BACK ***

After a long wait, we've decided to open our doors on Monday the 8th of June. The introduction of a screened barrier and disinfectant is now in place. As well as this, we're only letting one customer in at a time to adhere to the social distancing guidelines set by the HSE.

On a positive note, we're delighted to be reopening our doors and Allen is ready to take the virus head on.
