🧡 Caridina thambipillai Orange – a shrimp that doesn’t crossbreed with other shrimp.

That alone makes it a very interesting choice if you keep more than one shrimp species or colour line and want to avoid unwanted crossbreeding.

It also looks fantastic in a planted tank. Its intense orange colour stands out beautifully against moss, green plants and darker substrates, while these shrimp stay active throughout the day, constantly grazing on surfaces around the aquarium.

🦐 How long do Red Cherry shrimp carry their eggs?

Red Cherry shrimp usually carry their eggs for around 2 to 4 weeks. The exact incubation time depends mainly on water temperature, water quality, and the female’s overall condition.

During this period, the female constantly fans the eggs with her swimmerets, helping to keep them clean and supplied with oxygen-rich water. As the embryos develop, their eyes become visible through the egg casing, which is one of the clearest signs that hatching is close.

Stable water parameters, good oxygenation, plenty of biofilm, and avoiding sudden changes give the shrimplets the best chance of developing successfully.
