So… what am I actually making for Oprah?

Now that I’ve finally been able to tell you about this very surreal project, I thought I’d show you a little more of what’s happening behind the scenes.

I’ve been asked to personalise pieces for the stage, along with some very special pieces for Oprah’s green room.

And I didn’t want to simply put a name on something and call it a day.

We could have used a standard font or a generic embroidered monogram.
But when wmI talked about making something truly personal, I kept coming back to one thing:

What is more personal to an individual than their own handwriting? ✍️

So I decided to take Oprah’s own signature and design her monogram around it , turning something completely unique to her into embroidery.🪡

I’ve been thinking about what she loves, what she might actually use, and how we could make these pieces feel personal to her, while still feeling like something that is Irish in design and nature to commemorate her first Irish appearance 🍀

There are cushions.

There are some very special personalised travel pieces.

And there may or may not be a little leather bookmark involved…

I can’t show you everything just yet.

But I CAN tell you that every piece has been thought about.

Every detail.

Every stitch.

We have all been there!
You attend a brilliant industry event, or you receive an end-of-quarter team gift, and you are handed... a plastic pen that does not work. Or a branded USB key that you will never use. 🥴

The corporate gifting industry is massive. Almost every company will brand merchandise at some point. But the reality is that a huge percentage of those gifts end up in the bin almost immediately.

It is a waste of budget, damaging to the environment and more importantly, it is a missed opportunity for brand connection.

At Make It Personal Ireland, we believe that half the battle is the product itself. If you want people to actually use and appreciate the merchandise they receive, you have to start with something they would genuinely want to buy for themselves.

I can finally tell you what I’ve been working on behind the scenes… and honestly, I still can’t quite believe this is actually a thing!

I’ve been asked to work with to bring that extra special touch to the stage design for .summit Up Close With Winfrey at 3Arena on September 14th.

And my little part in it?

Personalising pieces for the stage… and creating some very special pieces for Oprah herself! 🪡

When I started Make It Personal, I never imagined that one day I’d be sitting at my embroidery machine creating something for one of the most recognisable women in the world.

There is SO much more to show you, but for now… I’m just going to enjoy saying it. Thank you to Suz for bringing me in board and trusting me with the job 🙏
