So thats the 306 Maxi pretty much fabricated, dry built and rolled out into the sun for look.

A lot of work has gone into this car to make it a tidy modified car without straying too far from the looks & design of the original legend.

An original spec Peugeot engine is currently being built for the car with a 10k RPM rev limit so the noise will match the looks.
That will be mated to a 3MO 6sp sequential ‘box.

The 306 sits on mostly 208 R2/Rally4 suspension & running gear meaning sourcing parts & maintaining this beast will be made somewhat easy.

The next step is to finish off some small fab jobs, finalise the kit fitment and then strip for blasting and paint.

Another recommission job finished this week.

This Mk1 GTI came in as a non runner with stuck brakes & flat tyres looking a bit sorry for itself.

A distributor rebuild & ignition module got her to
Fire up and then the real work started.

A new timing belt kit was fitted, new starter, all fluids & filters were replaced along with adjusting the timing & setting the idle on the twin carbs.

A new brake master cylinder found its way under the bonnet & a new pair of rear callipers were fitted
Along with adjusting the brake linkages from pedal to servo.

New gear linkage bushes were installed to replace the non existing items along with a home made short shifter and new seals in the gearbox drive flanges.

A set of Yokahama tyres were wrapped around the original Tarantula 13” wheels and the car was then treated to a full alignment.

Fiberglass repairs were carried out on the broken bonnet, new flag mirrors fitted along with a new “Golf GTI” rear badge and a massive wash & degrease was carried out in the engine bay & underneath the car.

After a good Italian tune up on a sunny Sunday afternoon the little GTI was handed back to its owner to enjoy on some vintage rallies.

I get asked a lot “Have ya not the Subaru done yet”
Well, no, its not and some of these pictures may explain why.

If you know your standard or GrpN Subaru’s, you probably wont recognise anything in these photos.

The GrpA car is a totally different beast even though they look like a standard car with big wheels.

Every component fitted to this recreation was either made in house or sourced from various people who were involved in the original 60 odd cars.
A handfull of original parts were sourced but needed extensive refurbishment or modifications.

However, good progress is being made & its now starting to look like something that may have passed through the Prodrive workshop.

Enjoy the Photos & feel free to share.

The Full Monte.

Another restoration project finished off here at RHM and returned to its owner this morning.

This 1994 Mallard Green Es**rt Cosworth "Monte" is one of only 200 cars produced (and 1 of 70 RHD) between February & July '94 to celebrate Ford winning the Monte Carlo rally that year.

This example came in as a painted rolling shell along with 2 van loads of parts in varying conditions and as usual I was given free rein.

A massive credit must go to my customer Pauric who sourced some mega rare parts for the restoration including a new old stock wiring loom, fuse box and genuine NOS Ford wheels, still in the box 32 years after they were made.

The Monte was carefully researched and bolted together over the last 7 months with many stumbling blocks along the way but I'm sure you will agree, well worth the hardship.

We like a good M3 here at Red Hill & they don’t get much better than this E46 sporting many genuine CSL parts.

This example traveled all the way from West Cork to have the RHM treatment & the brief was simple, make the interior a less boring place to be.

Taking inspiration from a 911 GT3 Clubsport I had a pretty clear plan how this one needed to look.
A half cage was made along with custom M logo seat mounts & powder coated in satin black.
Rear seat delete panels fabricated from aluminium and trimmed in BMW 9002 alcantara along with a matching parcel shelf.

The Recaro Pole Position seats were stripped & painted to match the body colour & new centres made and trimmed in alcantara for a very factory look.

The steering wheel was sent out for trimming & stitching in the BMW tricolour’s and seatbelts also re-webbed in genuine Tricolour webbing.

On the mechanical side of things a beautiful Eventuri carbon airbox & air intake were fitted
For a glorious intake noise.

A stud & nut conversion, new tail pipes, a quicker ratio steering rack all found their way into the E46 along with some fluid changes & a driver focused 4 wheel alignment to all add to the overall driving experience.

Of course, the car needed extensive road testing after all that work before handing the keys back to a delighted customer.

Thank you Ronan for trusting us with this one & we wish you many miles of flat out motoring in your new E46 M3 Clubsport.

The great Michael Tumulty putting our 106/Saxo lower arm kit to use in the recent Limerick hillclimb.

Michael has reported that any torque steer & tram lining have been totally eliminated, car control and composure under hard breaking has improved massively and turn in is now sharp & precise.

We plan a little bit more development to allow for more camber adjustment & this kit will be available to purchase later in the year.
