Paddy Martin

Paddy Martin I'm a craftsman making traditional flutes whistles and occasionally uilleann pipes in a variety of timbers. Bagpipe (highland) restoration is a speciality

I've created this page primarily to promote and sell my instruments, I specialise in traditional handcrafted flutes in d, e flat and c. I use both tropical hardwoods and locally sourced wood eg fruit trees, holly, etc. I have a strong interest in bagpiping having played my entire life, and see myself manufacturing some in future, I can carry out quality restoration of these instruments, reeding,

tying in, new mounts, et all
Unique handmade wooden whistles are also made, I am playing a few of my own and would be happy to discuss any orders from discerning whistle players

Being a renowned Uilleann piper also I sometimes make my own chanters, reeds etc, and while I diversified from this activity somewhat lately I wouldn't mind doing more pipe making in future. My work is all carried out in my garage workshop, in a very traditional hands on way with hand tools and wood-lathes. Price of flutes, with leather handmade case is €450 -€600
depending on wood used, and key of flute. whistles start at €180

I have so far made whisles in d, c, Bb, and low g

Facebook is always asking me to create a post on this page..I don't have much to post here though. I might even take down this business page altogether. I'm not getting any interest through it, and my focus has probably shifted slightly to the gigs and farming. There you go.

Stainless steel
Added some grooves/bands with a ground-down thread chaser, seemed to come out nicely. Took it to the woodlathe then for a sand and polish

Decided to record my own practice chanter I made a few years ago. African blackwood with boxwood mounts. Plays very nicely.
