The Madison takes its cues from the 1920s — a swivel base and a bullion fringe hem, part of the Met x Eichholtz collection. Bullion fringe is that twisted rope-like trim that runs the full way around the base — an old-world upholstery detail you don't see on much modern furniture.

Most chandeliers light up a room, an Eichholtz Chandelier stages one. The Gustave Chandelier has thick curved glass in smoke or champagne catching a bronze frame, throwing shadow the way candlelight used to, back before anyone thought to switch off the big light and just live with the good stuff.
