That’s a wrap! Our Christmas Market’s closed yesterday! Wow! A whirlwind of markets since the 3rd December! We experienced all kinds of weather, December in Kerry will do that!
It’s been a challenging year for us, we ran as normal til lockdown, then moved online to run as a virtual market every Sunday. We lost our lovely home at The Laurels due to Covid, Kate and the team there had been really good to us, taking a chance on us and opening their doors to us in December 2017 and we will be forever grateful for that. Luckily welcomed us in after the first lockdown and we love our new home! But it is not without its challenges, we’ve had to adapt to being a fully outdoor market. This has affected our traders, some have never traded outdoors before. The summer was so successful we decided to run the market weekly and the feedback was great. We moved back online during the 2nd lockdown and then opened back up at the beginning of December. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing traders old and new for their resilience and good humour throughout the year, it was an exceptionally challenging year for everyone. Thanks to the team in Scott’s and all our neighbours on Scott’s Street for welcoming us in, everyone who took part in the online market, we had traders from as far away as the UK! Thanks to all the musicians we had all summer, live music there’s nothing like it! Thank you to all of you who called in, bought, chatted, shared, told a friend! We’re determined to keep a market in Killarney in 2021, taking a break til the spring, to plan, take stock and rest! See you all in the Spring! Ciara and Hazel
