I'm tamzen, a textile artist specialising in the wet felt technique. This involves using wool and other natural fibres +soap+water+ hard work to turn the raw fibre into a fabric. Each piece is unique and handmade in very small batches, quite often complete one offs! You'll find me up to my eyes in fibre, soap and water most days, coming up with new and lovely gifts for my etsy shop...

Just letting those regular loyal purchasers know, my Christmas range will launch online in mid October. I'm currently delivering the range to little independent stores around Ireland. Behind the scenes I'm making like an Xmas elf as well as uploading a few new things and web exclusives too...

I'll keep you posted but for now, enjoy the conkers, the falling leaves and the changing seasons

Attended Róisín de Buitléar yesterday... stepping away from the studio at a busy time of year but feeling a connection to the other craftspeople in the room as we try to navigate the balance between making a living and living well.

My work has always been grounded in a sense of place. Using natural materials and trying to capture an essence of Ireland in one off pieces, with no copies, no prints, no mass production.
Small batches. It's about the work not the packaging it comes in or the branding around it... the work has to stand on its own. The work and the labour of the craft, connecting communities and culture.

Just back from a few days R&R in lovely wicklow, before the craziness of the " big C"... added a few landscape pieces to my wee webshop for early bird shoppers who like to gift something special. As usual there is only one of each piece.

Autumn in Ireland... original textile artworks, added a few new ones to the website... getting slowly restocked and ready for your gifting season. Taking R&R in Co. Wicklow to set me up for the big 'C' rush...
My own range of woollen Christmas decorations will go online mid Oct... but these lovely landscapes are new and there already for early bird shoppers- my favourite people!

Last night supported by Kildare Arts Service in our wonderful GATHER which is a co-operative enterprise supported by the local enterprise office kildare & KCC...

There is a magic when the lights get low... these wonderful pictures taken of the evening by our resident photographer Daniel J. O'Neill whose work you can see and purchase in store. Shared the soft glow also with Sarah McGuinness and her jewel like glass work.
