We hate to bring a bit of negative news but unfortunately we are at our wits end.
Over the last month as the schools have closed we're encountering shop lifting incidents on a daily basis at the moment. The kids involved are aged anywhere from 12-18. After another 2 incidents this evening we have to take a much stronger stance on it.
We're delighted to say to date we're not aware of any of the local kids being involved, however we are getting plagued by groups coming in on the bus, robbing and running.
We're receiving great support from John, Lorraine and the rest of the team in Newtown Garda station. The only way we can stamp this out is to come down heavy and actually go ahead and involve the Gardai on a case by case basis, no matter how small the incident. We can see from what and how things are being stolen, some of this is purely just for entertainment sake. We're also limiting access to groups along with face coverings/hoodies.
Our local community are so supportive of us, and as we say, so far no local kids have been involved but we'd ask that maybe parents would mention it to their kids what is going on because what we don't want is for nice kids to be in trouble purely by association.
