We here at Inanna Rare Books would like to say a huge thank you to Declan McCarthy, Brendan McCarthy, Caragh Bell and everyone else who worked tireless behind the scenes of the Skibbereen Arts Festival 2025 !
It was simply wonderful to be part of this year’s abundant Festival of Art, Music, Theatre and Literature !
Thank you also to everyone who contributed to three sold out events at the Masonic Hall !
Poet Theo Dorgan, Playwright Irene Kelleher, Poet Thomas McCarthy and Photographer John Minihan transformed the Masonic Hall into a place of stories and wonder.
We can not wait to be part of next year’s Skibbereen Arts Festival !

15 Years of Books, Community, and Good Food

Fifteen years ago, in 2010, we opened The Time Traveller’s Bookshop, a place dedicated to rare and secondhand books, where readers, collectors, and curious minds could come together to explore history, literature, and knowledge. For eight years, we built a community of book lovers, welcoming visitors from near and far, sharing stories, and enjoying a love for the printed word.

In 2018, we embarked on a new chapter by expanding into Antiquity Bookshop Café, blending our passion for books with a love for delicious, plant-based food. The café became a natural extension of the bookshop—a space where people could not only browse books and records but also gather over coffee, homemade cakes, and nourishing meals. It was West Cork’s first fully vegan café, and we were delighted by the warm response from both locals and visitors.

Over the years, our little corner of Skibbereen has been more than just a bookshop and café—it has been a meeting place, a refuge, and a hub of conversation. We’ve hosted book events, watched friendships form over shared tables, people writing their books, marriage proposals and had the joy of seeing regular customers return time and time again.

As we celebrate 15 years, we want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey—those who have browsed our shelves, shared a meal with us, or simply stopped by for a chat. Your support has made this place what it is, and we look forward to this summer with you all marking this special year. Photo by John Minihan.

About the Author

Robert Harris lived in Cappaghglass, West Cork, overlooking the beautiful Roaringwater Bay. Retired from architecture, he found himself busier than ever writing, researching local history and organising exhibitions with Finola Finlay. He and Finola amassed a great collection of books on Ireland and, particularly, the west coast.
