If you are in an area that is subject to a hosepipe ban, the ban applies to garden hoses and NOT watering cans. You can keep plants alive by watering at the roots with the less wasteful watering can.
Remember, you can water at any time of the day, but prioritise trees, shrubs or perennials that you planted this year. Their root systems will not yet be developed enough to make them self-sufficient.

The greatest myth in gardening lore is that you shouldn't water plants during the day. No harm will come to plants that are watered during daylight hours, even during a warm and sunny day. But it is very stressful for plants to dry out.
Any plants that were planted this year need to be watered regularly during this heatwave.
Always try to include a late evening watering because that way the water will remain around the roots of the plants for several hours.

As the evenings lengthen, the wind becomes kinder and the sun begins to shine (we hope), it is the perfect time to add colour to your garden. At O'Driscoll's Garden Centre, we have a terrific selection of plants to provide a sequence of colour for now and throughout the coming months. Winter is a great time to plan ahead for next year's colour and what better way to achieve glorious colour next summer than by planting roses? At O'Driscoll's Garden Centre we can offer an outstanding selection of roses, including many new and unusual varieties. There is already lots of colour, from foliage and flowers, with Solanum, Helleborus, Heather, Conifers and soon the beautiful flowers will emerge on the Hamamelis (Witch Hazel), along with the wintery scent. We also have planters filled with cheery colour at a great price.
