Personalise your Montessori First Puzzles with your own family photographs. I have seen this idea done on the Internet with puzzles and latch boards and think it's a lovely idea.
Aside from putting photos in the puzzles, make sure to also have photos accessible for the child to look at. The child simply enjoys looking at them and it gives you the opportunity to connect with your child and promote language opportunities.

Montessori materials play an important role aiding child development. In addition, Montessori is a way of life, a lifestyle. It is one that among many other aspects, promotes independence. The path to independence is done step by step in accordance with the child's abilities.

Initially I brought the glass to his mouth. Gradually over time at 9 months he has learned to hold it himself. The sense of accomplishment that comes with this is immense and his self-confidence and belief in himself will grow.

Am I worried about the glass? No! If it falls it will fall to the ground and he will be up in his chair while I sweep it up. My eldest never broke a glass. I broke one...while washing up. 🙄

Why glass? Should he break one, he will see the consequences of his actions. We don't scold, simply clear it up. The glass will tell him he has been too rough. The prepared environment is the teacher, helping him to be come more careful, refining his movements in the process.
