While in Normandy earlier this month for the 81 Anniversary of D-Day I visited some sights that will feature heavy in my next book. These towns saw heavy armour engagements between Allied units and Panther tanks from the 3. Panzerkompanie HJ under the command of Rudolf von Ribbentrop whose career my next book will cover.

Congratulations to my dear and longtime friend Peter Mooney who has just released the final Volume of his excellent 6 Volume series on the Knight’s Cross Holders of the Waffen $$. This book was a pure labour of love and contains some very rare photos of these decorated men. I was glad to be able to help Peter with photos I previously held in my collection. Wishing Peter all the best with it . Material in this post has been censored as per FB rules

Congratulations to Michael Barry and John O’Byrne on the release of their new book “ The Emergency In Colour”. We were only too happy to provide the authors with photos from our Luftwaffe collection which were used in the book. A fantastic read and a must for anyone interested in this piece of Irish history.

It’s with great sadness that I announce the passing of my friend Hans Rassek. Hans wrote the foreword to our book back in 2016. He was the last living Luftwaffe internee to have been held in Ireland during WW2. He was a gentleman to the core and always spoke highly of his time in Ireland.
Thank you for our years of friendship.
RIP Hans ❤️

Wishing my old and dear friend Hans Rassek a happy 100 birthday 🍾🍾🍾.
Hans wrote the foreword to our book and is possibly the last living member of his unit KG40. Hans is also the last living member of the Luftwaffe to be interned in Ireland during WW2. Great to see Hans is still with us and celebrated his 100 birthday this week. Hopefully I will get to catch up with him again soon, wishing you continued good health Hans 👍🏻

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the first Luftwaffe plane to crash land in Ireland during WW2. The Fw 200 Condor from KG40 crashed near Faha Ridge on Mount Brandon in Co. Kerry . The crew of six survived the crash and were interned in Ireland until August 1945 when they returned home. The last living member from this crew Kurt Kyck returned to Ireland and raised his family here, Kurt lived a long and healthy life before passing away in 2010.
