Merchants Quarter- Waterford City Shopping District Waterford City Centre has been divided into key activity areas.

Our Historical quarter is known as the 'Viking Triangle', Our Entertainment quarter is known as 'John Street Village' and the area that defines the main shopping district is known as the 'Merchant Quarter'. The name 'Merchant' Quarter is fitting due to the areas close proximity to Merchants Quay - Waterfords Port was once one of the busiest in Europe and the local Merchants conducted their trade from the Quays in Waterford. The Merchant Quarter is also the united effort of Waterford City Council , Waterford Chamber of Commerce and Waterford City Centre Retailers Association."
