Bearded Iris by artist Alice Ruane . This painting is hanging by our counter at the moment and it’s just a beauty. It is painted in watercolour using a kitchen knife (I know, I don’t know how that’s done)! Alice is based in the countryside near the River Blackwater here in county Waterford. She lives and works there in a thatched cottage alongside her partner Darragh. At the start of the summer we visited for lunch and we got a tour around their Ark garden. I had never visited an Ark garden before but once you tune into the ideas behind one it’s impossible to go back We Are The Ark. We also spotted a Mary Lincoln handbuilt bowl there, so lovely to see it in such a home and taking pride of place Mary Lincoln. Thanks Alice and Darragh - x

Some of the work we have at the moment in the shop from Marcus O’Mahony. These pieces came out of a wood firing a few months ago.
The fist piece is a stoneware vase with shino glaze and wood ash.
The second piece is a porcelain vessel with granite inclusions.
The final piece you see is a stoneware vessel with shino glaze.

Last night I got a glimpse into the wood firing process as local potter Marcus O’Mahony fired his wood fired kiln. An amazing experience. Thank you

Studio Canty is Kirstin Canty. Kirstin worked as a graphic designer for 15 years and was looking for new ways to express her creativity- using her hands was something she missed, designing mostly on screen. She started using polymer clay and loved its versatility Kristin Canty
