– Day 4
God Helps Those Who Help Others
The last 24 hours have been very strange as a post that I wrote at the beginning of this pandemic is now doing its rounds on Social Media and Whatsapp, being attributed to Bill Gates! I have received my own message 3 times, attributed to Bill Gates!
When I was first made aware of this, I was flattered, as Bill Gates is a name that everyone knows.
However, as I started to meditate on this deeper, I started to understand the true lesson behind this incident.
Before I wrote that post, I prayed to God to give me the strength and wisdom to write something that would benefit people in this difficult time. That was my intention in writing this, to have my words spread as far as possible for the benefit of as many people as possible.
I left the rest to God and a few days later, he gave me the reply, as I’m sure that in time, a lot more people would read those words, assuming they are Bill Gates, as opposed to a relatively unknown person from the UK.
More importantly, I’m sure that a lot more people would take the message that I was trying to convey in those words to heart, assuming that it is from someone like Bill Gates!
This, to me, is the greatest lesson of our time. I have written extensively that this pandemic is a great corrector, and this is further proof.
This pandemic is teaching us that we are all equal and just as valuable to each other.
- When our rubbish is not collected, we will value how important the bin man is
- When our hair is uncut, we will value how important the barber is
- When our packages are not delivered, we will value the delivery drivers
- When we need to look after our children on our own, we value our teachers
- When we are sick, we value our doctors and nurses
At the end of the day, if this pandemic has taught me one thing, so far, it is that the words and views of a relatively unknown philosopher from the UK are just as valuable as if they were spoken from someone who was once the richest man in the world.
During these difficult days, it is of paramount importance that we all serve each other as best as we can. It does not matter who we are or what we do, we all have a role in society, and it is, ironically, only when that role is not being fulfilled that we realize how valuable it is.
It is also important to serve with a pure intention, asking God to help us to help as many people as possible, because of the limited amount that we can do ourselves.
It is through this intention that miracles can happen and what you consider to be a small deed can become invaluable to many others.
This is the time for all of us to be superheroes. This is the time for us to serve like we have never done so before and to leave the rest in hands that are bigger than our own, to see the true impact of what we do.
This difficult time will pass and, through its passing, will leave our world a much more equal, united and wonderful place!
