Sliman Mansour’s work travelled across mediums and materials, leaving its mark on the way Palestine is seen, remembered and represented.
More than twenty years ago, Mansour designed this tatreez piece for the Surif Women’s Cooperative in Hebron. It is still made today, continuing to generate income for the women who produce it.
A small but powerful example of how his art moved beyond the canvas and into the hands of Palestinian women — carried forward through thread, skill and collective labour.
Perhaps that is part of what made Mansour, like other great Palestinian artists, so impactful: his work became part of our shared visual language. We grew up with it, carried it, and passed it on.
