Our Lady of Kazan, also called Theotokos of Kazan (Russian: Казанская Богоматерь tr. Kazanskaya Bogomater'), was a holyicon of the highest stature within the Russian Orthodox Church, representing the Virgin Mary as the protector and patroness of the city of Kazan. It was considered a palladium of Russia for centuries, until its theft and likely destruction in 1904. Two major Kazan cathedrals, in Moscow and St. Petersburg, are consecrated to Our Lady of Kazan, as are numerous churches throughout the land. Her feast days are July 21 and November 4 (which is also the Day of National Unity).

Ancient and venerated copies have been displayed at the Kazan Cathedral of Moscow, at Yaroslavl, and at St. Petersburg. Copies of the image are also venerated in the Catholic Church

Palestinian olive oil is aromatic and flavorful. Even for the non-expert, the difference is immediately noticeable. Traditional Mediterranean oils are strong flavored.

This olive oil is characterized by its distinct personality, robust aroma, and a flavor evocative of fresh fruit. It has a peppery bite and a hint of bitterness [a desirable trait] that disappears as the oil ages over time. Once you have tried olive oil from Palestine, most other olive oils appear bland by comparison.

This lovely statue of the Virgin Mary, the Blessed Mother, is made from Holy Land olive wood and hand carved by Christian artisans in Bethlehem, near where the Blessed Mother gave birth to the Lord Jesus. Our olive wood craftsmen beautifully depict the Blessed Mother with her hands held together and her eyes closed in prayer. The Blessed Mother statue reveals a sweet gentle face, flowing hair and a head covering with an intricately detailed border. A fine finish of polyurethane gives the Blessed Mother statue a protective finish and a lovely soft shine that accentuates the beautiful Holy Land olive wood. Underneath this statue of Mary you will find the "Bethlehem wood carving" seal of authenticity and along with our Holy Land Gift Shop card you will receive a "Made in Bethlehem" certificate of authenticity.

This Virgin Mary statue is rich in detail but still very affordable. Ideal for gifts for all occasions, this Virgin Mary statue is listed in our Catholic ordination gifts and our graduation gifts categories.

This olive wood article is very solid, and durable. The surface has a fine finish that's silky smooth to the touch.

No two items are identical due to differences in the wood grain and may contain minor cracks natural to the olive wood knots.

These olive wood products are carved from branches that are pruned during the standard pruning process. This is a beautiful and truly meaningful gift from the Holy Land.

An icon (from Greek εἰκών eikōn "image") is typically a painting depicting Christ, Mary, saints and/or angels, which is venerated among Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and in certain Catholic Churches.

Icons may also be cast in metal, carved in stone, embroidered on cloth, painted on wood, done in mosaic or fresco work, printed on paper or metal, etc. Icons are often illuminated with a candle or jar of oil with a wick. (Beeswax for candles and olive oil for oil lamps are preferred because they burn very cleanly, although other materials are sometimes used.) The illumination of religious images with lamps or candles is an ancient practice pre-dating Christianity.

Although common in translated works from Greek or Russian, in English iconography does not mean icon painting, and "iconographer" does not mean an artist of icons, which are painted or carved, not "written", as they are in those languages.

Comparable images from Western Christianity are generally not described as "icons", although "iconic" may be used to describe a static style of devotional image.

Saint Nicholas (Greek: Ἅγιος Νικόλαος, Hagios Nikólaos, Latin: Sanctus Nicolaus); (15 March 270 – 6 December 343),[3][4] also called Nikolaos of Myra, was a historic 4th-century Christian saint and Greek[5] Bishop of Myra, in Asia Minor (modern-day Demre, Turkey).[6] Because of the many miracles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nikolaos the Wonderworker (Νικόλαος ὁ Θαυματουργός, Nikolaos ho Thaumaturgos). His reputation evolved among the faithful, as was common for early Christian saints.[7]

The historical Saint Nicholas is commemorated and revered among Anglican,[8] Catholic, Lutheran, and Orthodox Christians. In addition, some Baptist,[9] Methodist,[10] Presbyterian,[11] and Reformed churches have been named in honor of Saint Nicholas.[12] Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers and students in various cities and countries around Europe.
