Q: Which countries are in the world declare Iran as a terrorist organization?

There is an important distinction between:
1. countries that officially designate the state of Iran as a “state sponsor of terrorism,” and
2. countries that designate parts of Iran’s government — especially the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) — as terrorist organizations.
Countries that officially classify Iran as a state sponsor/supporter of terrorism
The clearest formal designations include:
* United States — designated Iran a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1984.
* Canada — lists the Islamic Republic of Iran as a “State Supporter of Terrorism” under Canadian law.
* Australia — recently listed the IRGC as a “state sponsor of terrorism” under Australian law.
Countries/entities that classify the IRGC as a terrorist organization
These include:
* United States
* Canada
* Saudi Arabia
* Bahrain
* Paraguay
* Ukraine
* Sweden
* European Union (recently designated the IRGC)
Several additional countries sanction Iranian officials, military units, or proxy groups without formally labeling the entire Iranian state as terrorist.
Many governments accuse Iran of supporting:
* Hezbollah
* Hamas
* Houthi forces in Yemen
* and various militia groups in Iraq and Syria.
At the same time, countries such as Russia and China reject the terrorism designation approach toward Iran and maintain close diplomatic ties with Tehran. That division among major powers is one reason there is no universal UN designation of Iran itself as a terrorist state.
