Pentagonite on Zeolite Matrix — Deccan Traps, Pune District, Maharashtra, India
A naturally formed, electric-blue Pentagonite crystal dramatically rising from a sparkling zeolite matrix, created over thousands to millions of years inside basalt cavities of the Deccan volcanic flows. During ancient volcanic activity, gas bubbles became hollow pockets within the basalt. Over geological time, mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids slowly circulated through these cavities, first depositing delicate zeolite layers and eventually allowing rare Pentagonite to crystallize freely in open space.
The strong vertical growth, sharp crystallization, and intense sky-blue saturation indicate a stable, undisturbed formation environment and high-quality mineralization. The natural contrast between the vibrant Pentagonite and the druzy matrix enhances the specimen’s overall aesthetics, making it a striking display piece and a fine example of Deccan Trap zeolite mineralogy.
