Due to the scarcity of groundwater in recent times and in light of the advantages of electric pumps water hand pumps have become nearly obsolete. Despite that, the water hand pump is an excellent example of the basic pump which makes our lives so much more convenient with its variety of uses. Our curious little learners can learn the essential concepts, for example, Flow of water against gravity due to induced low pressure, Non return valve, Piston and cylinder arrangement, How piston creates a vacuum and thus suction. The best feature of this toy is that all the working parts of it are visible to the learners because of the transparency of the hand pump. The knowledge obtained is not just behind dry letters and bland textbooks but hands on. No need to visualize, it is not merely theoretical, it is right in front of you, just operate it and see the water gush through the valves and up the pipes as it did to douse the thirst of children playing in the sun and farmers hard at work and quench the needs of millions who witnessed the use of the handpump in times before. Even those using an opaque hand pump for years may not understand how it works, but you will, as you have this incredible toy. Another amazing feature of this model is that it can be assembled and disassembled several times which makes for never-ending fun along with lifelong learning which stems from experience, from putting together the pieces of the handpump getting to see a picture that spans much larger than just that. A picture that ignites a passion for creating, for building, for putting together the pieces of something greater than themselves and joy, in learning.
