WHY IS MY AC BLOWING WARM AIR?
At times, you must be familiar with your home air conditioner blowing hot air. This increases the room temperature and is quite undesirable. This is especially uncomfortable during smouldering summer times. There are a few common causes for your ac to blow hot air.
Dirty air filter
An unclean air filter must be clogging your evaporator coil and prevents proper cooling. Make sure to clean the duct filters of your AC periodically.
Refrigerant quantity
You must be low on the refrigerant quantity. Your air conditioner needs proper amount of Freon for regular cooling action. A leak in Freon can warm up the air instead of cooling it.
Wrong thermostat setting
This is often the main culprit behind warm AC air. Check your thermostat and make sure it is set on the cooling mode. It might be accidently switched to heating mode and that might be the reason for blowing warm air.
Condenser unit
Check your air conditioners condenser unit. Make sure it is not dirty or nothing is blocking it from the outside. A dirty condenser unit might be the reason for blowing of hot air. See if there is any kind of dirt, debris or leaves interfering with the system unit and remove it.
Air ducts
Leaky air ducts are a common cause for warm air. If that is the case, you need to immediately contact a professional to fix the leak.

HOW TO CLEAN A DIRTY FILTER:

Cleaning the filter of your air conditioning unit is an important step to its proper maintenance. You don’t always have to consult a professional to do this job. If you are a little handy with tools, it’s quite easy to clean the filter yourself. Air conditioners accumulate a lot of dirt and debris from the surroundings that make its operation difficult. A dirty air filter makes the AC takes up twice as much energy and releases contaminated air. It also restricts airflow and damages the unit over time. To run an AC effectively, you need to clean it regularly. You should clean it at least once a month and twice in summer. Here is the step-by-step method of cleaning your air filter.

Step 1: Remove the filter
Turn off your air conditioner and open the lid. Take the screws off if necessary. Set the lid out and remove the filter carefully.

Step 2: Vacuum it
Take out your filter and vacuum it using a handy vacuum cleaner at a moderate setting. Hold the filter carefully with one hand and use the other hand to vacuum it gently.

Step 3: Wash the filter
Dusting will remove only part of dirt. If the filter is still dirty, place it in a tumbler of clean water and rinse off grimy substances. Add a little bit of vinegar or liquid detergent in the water. Rinse it off gently.

Step 4: Deep clean it
Submerge the filter in water for 10 to 15 minutes before taking it out. And hose of the dirty particles.

Step 5: Dry it off
Place the filter over some clean surface where it can dry off. Let it air dry for a few hours and then put it back in the unit.
