The Book Abhinetara Unnata Abhinaya Prastuti by Naryana Pati is an Oriya translation of a famous book called “An Actor Prepares” by Stanislavsky. This book explores the inner preparation an actor must undergo in order to explore a role to the full. Since the modern theater came into existence, conventions have accumulated, outlived their usefulness and become hard ended, so that they stand in the way of fresh art and sincere emotion on the stage. To get rid of what has become artificial, and therefore become an impediment, and to prepare the actor to present the externals of life and their inner repercussions. What Stanislavsky has undertaken is not to discover a truth but to bring the truth in usable form within the reach of those actors and producers who are fairly well equipped by nature and who are willing to undergo the necessary discipline. As an actor and director the writer/translator Naryana Pati felt the necessity that every actor should learn the “System” for the true presentation of the character, the actor portrays. As this book is in English all actors are not equipped with the English language to understand and follow the method of Stanislavsky “System”. Translation in odia language will help the aspirant actors to follow the correct path shown by Stanislavsky for achieving the true inspiration of the character and can portray it truthfully. Since there is no such Odia book on acting, this translation will be immensely help full for that actor who wants to learn acting seriously and sincerely.
