This is the very FIRST book in Goldthwaite's Lieutenant Joseph Dickerson series, set in the small Connecticut town of Sudwich — where a pl***oy and a model turn up dead within hours of each other, a presumed-dead Navy veteran resurfaces seeking a plastic surgeon to be "remade," and a ghastly, half-alive figure known only as the Scarecrow haunts the town's streets.
