CHOLA wood pressed Coconut oil is known for its moisturizing, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties, making it beneficial for skin and hair health. However, its high saturated fat content is a source of controversy regarding its effects on heart health.
Dietary and internal health
Many of the claimed internal benefits of coconut oil are linked to its high content of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are metabolized differently than long-chain triglycerides found in most other oils.
Quick energy source: The body rapidly absorbs and converts MCTs into energy, making them a fast and efficient fuel source.
Antimicrobial effects: When consumed, the lauric acid in coconut oil forms a compound called monolaurin, which has been shown to fight harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
Supports oral hygiene: The practice of "oil pulling"—swishing coconut oil in the mouth—may reduce harmful bacteria, dental plaque, and gum inflammation.
May reduce seizures: For some with epilepsy, particularly children, the ketogenic diet, which uses MCTs to produce ketones, can help reduce seizure frequency.
