Originally started by Henry Walton Smith, WHSmith gets its name from Henry’s son, William Henry Smith. WHSmith currently operates over 1200 stores in the UK and a number of other international locations, including Delhi, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Melbourne and Sydney airports; comprising more than 621 high street stores and 643 retail units in airports, railway stations, hospitals, workplaces and motorway service areas. WHSmith sells a wide range of Newspapers, Magazines, Stationery, Books and Confectionery products, with WHSmith Travel tailoring its offer to meet the needs of people on the move. WHSmith opened its first store in India in partnership with Travel News Services (India) Pvt. Ltd in July 2010 and has since opened 20 Retail stores, 6 Stores in T3, IGI Airport, Delhi, 2 stores at Mumbai International airport, 4 stores at Cochin International airport, 6 stores at Hyderabad International airport and 1 store at Fortis Group of Hospital.
