I have always had not one passion, but two-teaching and baking/cooking. I dedicated the best part of my life to teaching and continue to do so. Their appreciation spurred me on to turn to baking professionally. It was in April 2015 that I finally took the plunge . I give every order (big or small) an equal amount of attention and make sure that the end product is to the satisfaction of my client. “You do not just wake up and become the butterfly -growth is a process”.

My contribution to a beautiful international collaboration on the theme of Sicily. I wanted the focal point to be the colourful hand drawn fruit carts that you see in the streets of Sicily but this was a pretty time consuming task. Everything on the cart is edible including the canopy😊. The bottom tier depicts the Sicilian landscape and I tried my hand on some palette knife painting with buttercream.
This was a work of love and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I see a lot of bakers pricing their products dirt cheap and I wonder “ Are they even recovering their cost price”? As newbie bakers, one tends to compromise on pricing to acquire customers but as you continue in your job it will be very difficult to sustain your business with this suicidal pricing.
If you are a baker, you need to believe in your ability and have the confidence in your product and price it accordingly. If you are a customer, ask yourself… if a certain key ingredient is an expensive one, how is the baker selling it so cheap? Is the product used in the preparation authentic?

When you pay Rs 30 for a puff from a bakery, ask yourself , “ How is it this cheap”? Because no bakery will sell it for Rs 30 if they are using butter in their pastry. If you are happy eating margarine, that’s your choice.

At the end of the day, be it a baker like me or a customer like you, we want the best for ourselves. I want to continue giving you quality products and you should also get your money’s worth.

And to all my baker friends, “ Do check your pricing and see if you are doing it right.”
