With the objective of sensitizing the youth about the rich cultural heritage and the artistic legacy of the handicraft, the Handicrafts Service Center (HSC), Jammu, organized Craft Demonstration Cum Awareness Programme at Govt. Middle School, Ratnuchak (Jammu) from 02.02.2026 to 04.02.2026.

Under Handicrafts Week celebrations, Handicraft Service Centre, Jammu organized ‘Manthan’—a structured consultative interaction—with distinguished State Handicraft Awardees.

The programme provided a platform for master artisans to share their experiences, deliberate on sector-specific challenges, and offer valuable suggestions for the preservation, promotion, and sustainable development of traditional handicrafts.

The interaction aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and incorporating artisan perspectives into policy and developmental initiatives.

📎सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों तक हस्तशिल्प सप्ताह के उत्सव को विस्तार देते हुए, जम्मू हस्तशिल्प सेवा केन्द्र द्वारा 9 दिसंबर 2025 को जिला पुंछ (जम्मू-कश्मीर) के एलओसी से सटे मानकोट सेक्टर के गाँव छज्जला में एक ‘चौपाल’ आयोजित की गई।

कार्यक्रम का मुख्य उद्देश्य स्थानीय कारीगरों तक पहुँच बनाना, सरकारी योजनाओं की जानकारी देना और पारंपरिक हस्तशिल्प को बढ़ावा देना था। कारीगरों को कौशल-विकास, पंजीकरण तथा विपणन के अवसरों के संबंध में मार्गदर्शन प्रदान किया गया।

कार्यक्रम में उत्साहपूर्ण भागीदारी देखने को मिली और यह इस दूरस्थ सीमा क्षेत्र में हस्तशिल्प आधारित आजीविकाओं को सशक्त बनाने में सहायक होगा।

📎As part of the Handicraft Week Celebration, a Craft Demonstration-cum-Awareness Programme was organized at Eklavya Model Residential School, Poonch from 8th to 10th December by the Handicrafts Service Centre , Jammu.

During the event, master artisans showcased traditional crafts such as art metal, embroidery, soft toys, and cane & bamboo, while students actively participated in hands-on sessions.

Awareness activities highlighted the importance of preserving local craft heritage and informed students about skill development and self-employment opportunities in the handicraft sector.

The programme received enthusiastic participation and helped promote creativity and cultural appreciation among the students.
