The Bota in Assam is a pedestal tray with great cultural significance.

We offer guests with betel nuts & leaves or fennel seeds, or invite someone to weddings or funerals, or make offerings in prayer meets.

The ordinary Bota made of bell metal is usually not as heavy as this 3kg premium and sturdy masterpiece.

Etched with hands, the designs and motifs signify its extraordinary character.

And no, it is not made in machine. This is a skill that an artisan learns from his forefathers and despite all odds chooses to keep at it.

Healthy for people and the planet, this waning bell metal craft is an act of rebellion in an age when it is all about superficial excellence in the name of luxury.

It is about not the product but the process, the source, the impact and you can make a difference.

We can send climateaction to your doorstep promoting products from processes that support life.

DM to support our cause and order.

Yes, mass production, attractive packing and refined looks may appear to be luxury. But, are you sure ?

What about something that is artisanally made, carved by hands without hideous machines and electricity ?

What about something that comes out of a process that has survived centuries and is on the verge of disappearance?

What about something that were used by royals and is today accessible to anyone who can afford?

This is a GI tagged craft of Assam centred around Sarthebari and the bell metal made here is carved solely by hands and hammers.

Yet, this labour-intensive process that has survived time is struggling against mechanisation, market and monopoly.

You & I can make a difference! This non-polluting craft isn’t about the product alone but the systems that our ancestors have designed and stays relevant even today in the face of climate-change.

Home-based artisans or factories? What’s your choice?

DM us to purchase a gift that last beyond a lifetime.

Do you see the intricacies?

The more detail you see, greater the human effort that goes in.

And what you pay for isn’t for a mere dish. You pay to keep a waning skill, alive.

You pay to make the lives of the artisans, better.

You pay to preserve a process that’s always been low-carbon, non polluting and spelling our royal history.

And not the factory based workers, you pay to help artisans who are trying to make a living with their heirloom skills from home.

That we may not abandon this luxury, we make this effort.

What you get is a piece that will last beyond a lifetimewhile creating a positive impact on people & the environment.

DM us if our mission resonates with you or for orders.

Handmade tea is rare. Tea that’s non toxic amongst stretches of pesticide-laden gardens, is rare.

Made in small batches, handmade tea is the sustainable & healthy alternative for us & the planet.

And unlike most, this isn’t bitter but refreshing.

A refined traditional jewellery set featuring an Assamese Thuriya-inspired floral motif, with intricate gold detailing, rich red accents, symmetrical petal forms and delicate hanging drops.

The necklace and matching Thuriya-style ear tops are the visual focal point, showcasing the craftsmanship and heritage of the process.

Our artisans are home-based and they’ve brought together Assamese heritage aesthetics with an elegant contemporary presentation.

The highlight is the traditional non polluting, low carbon process and that makes this part of our climate-smart traditional luxury.

DM to purchase & support our cause.

I was told that we should try bright colours too.
So, we have thought of a few for the upcoming batch.

Let us know if you’d like to order.

When bell metal or Kansa is beaten with hammer on fire, it doesn’t use any electricity. It is the skill over ages that carve the Pedestal Plate out of the metal and that makes it a luxury product: for health and the environment.

Pedestal plates or Baan Kaahi manifest royalty, the richness and creative heritage of Assam. While it bears a GI Tag of Assam, the craft centred at Sarthebari, the bell metal craft is a labour-intensive and hence a waning tradition that needs to stay. You & I can make that possible.

Drop us a DM to purchase.

‘Tis September. The Kohua/Kans blooms, work begins, and a familiar thought lingers: How did our ancestors afford silk without degrees while we struggle even with PhDs?

How long can schemes support? How long can debts enslave? Some of us don’t even rely on any scheme.

So why not return to the ancestral way. Be independent. Use your skills. Protect what kept them self-sufficient, and show the world that you can be rustic, self-reliant, and climate-smart.

Trainings on the Maatir Xaal will begin soon. Nominal fee. Lots of fun. Those interested in short rustic lessons, with love, laughter & the loom in the midst of beautiful scenic village, DM us.
