Know your shades of flooring.

Walnut is deep, warm brown with a soft red undertone. It sits between oak and espresso, rich without feeling heavy. The grain flows gently, so the floor adds character without competing with the room.

Herringbone or chevron? They look alike until you see how the planks are cut.

Herringbone uses square-ended planks laid at right angles, so the pattern zigzags and interlocks. Chevron uses angled cuts that meet in a continuous V. One feels classic and textured, the other sleek and graphic.
