19.08.2024 World Photography Day.
Life of a Lensocrat: Balancing Family and Work, One Frame at a Time.
"Commitments are the threads that weave our professional and personal lives together. In every frame, there’s a story of dedication and love."
On this World Photography Day, I find myself reflecting deeply on the life we photographers lead—a life of contrasts, tough decisions, and an unwavering commitment to our art. As photographers, we are performers, commissioned to capture the essence of life in its most raw and celebratory forms.
This past two weeks has been about balancing family responsibilities with professional commitments. The loss of my dear father-in-law brought me back to Varanasi, a city that flows with the eternal grace of the Ganga. In the midst of grief, I found myself at the crematorium at Manikarnika Ghat, a place that holds the raw truth of life’s impermanence.
But life as a photographer demands that we sometimes leave our emotions behind, pick up our camera bags, and move from one extreme to another. From the solemnity of Manikarnika to the vibrant celebrations in the JW Marriott ballroom, where joy and love are celebrated in grand style. These contrasting experiences remind me of the duality in life and the tough choices we often have to make.
Despite the hectic nature of overnight flights and managing back-to-back schedules, I remain committed to capturing the priceless moments for those who have entrusted me with their memories. These are commitments I hold dear, and I believe my father-in-law would want nothing more than to see me uphold them with dedication and love.
I am deeply grateful to my incredible family for their unwavering support and understanding during this time. Their love allows me to fulfill my responsibilities and keep the lens focused on creating memories that will last a lifetime.
