Amit and me were presented with Garhwal Post Award by His Excellency Governor of Uttarakhand Lt General Gurmit Singh ( Retd) PVSM, UYSM, AVSM , VSM and Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari - Ex CM Uttarakhand and Ex Governor Maharashtra & Goa ( Padma Bhushan Awardee ) at Lok Bhawan on 22nd Aug’26 to commemorate Garhwal Post completing 30 years of Committed Journalism ..

Governor Sir was at his best when he spoke - infusing immense zeal into the audience..

When we met him on stage he asked us How are you both ? - it felt so special him remembering us - we met him when he visited Lansdowne in May’ 26 ( he must be meeting thousands daily ) ..

A very special thanks to Mr Upendra Sharma , Mr Satish Sharma - Editor and Publisher of Garhwal Post and the Jury for awarding our work - it definitely made us to think how can we achieve more and do more good work 💕 !!!

His Excellency Governor of Uttarakhand-
Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) was on an official visit for 2 days to Lansdowne.

Amit and me sent him an official invite though the time was short and also it was completely packed schedule for him but we both wished that Governor Sir must visit our Café and see our work …

We were hoping against all hopes ..
8th May’26 his visit got postponed and he arrived on 9th May’26 … Busy schedule he had , as it was a Saturday we both were also extremely busy at the Café but in our heart we were thinking why we didn’t receive any response - the day passed.

Yesterday morning we had just come back home after our morning walk and my phone rang - the person on the other side said जय हिन्द मैम, मैं गवर्नर सर का ए.डी.सी बोल रहा हूँ - सर ने आप दोनों को १०:३० पे मिलने के लिए बुलाया है ॥

It was 9:30 am that time , we had almost no time to even consume the news - we got ready and hurried towards the परेड ग्राउंड ॥ While driving Amit and me were talking to each other that it’s so hard to believe that we are actually being called by Governor Sir when we knew that he must be leaving Lansdowne by like 11:30 am …

All the way we were getting calls from his office telling us where to reach …

We were escorted to the Parade Ground and were informed Governor Sir will meet you both after Gaurd of Honour at the Helipad … Anxiously we both waited for him and there he arrived - smilingly walking towards us and the first thing he said was I am really sorry I couldn’t come to your Cafe’ this time but it’s a promise next time I will come with my wife - what a loving gesture …

He asked us about our work, our background and when he got to know that our Café is 14 years old functioning on Community Based Concept where in we train villagers to run the Café he got very excited and made us meet DM Pauri - Ms Swati S Bhadauria and said you must meet them … He said I have heard many good things about your Cafe’ , your work , your concept and Mr Satish Sharma - Editor Garhwal Post Newspaper speaks very highly about you both …
We discussed about the screening of the Movie - Misty which happened on 25th April’26 at Lok Bhawan & Governor Sir was the Chief Guest along with Ma’am ..
We told him what a keen observer he was and the way he encourages others and make them feel comfortable in his company is commendable…

We gifted him Frames of Maharaja of Patiala and Maharaja of Kapurthala - he loved the gift & very happily he shared he is a pass-out from Sainik School Kapurthala .. Then he asked the official photographers to click our image together … And we parted with a promise to meet very soon at our Café…

Little did we know that our wish will get fulfilled and his warmth & appreciation towards our work - is something which will be with us forever…

Amit and me believe- Entrepreneurs embark upon their journey and passion & during that journey there are many who contribute in their own way in this journey be it guidance or appreciation or encouragement or support- in our case it’s Mr Satish Sharma …

The appreciation which we got from Governor Sir and the fact he called us to meet inspite of such a busy schedule and his visit was also shortened- shows what a great leader he is - he knows his good words for someone will encourage them to strive for better …

Thanks Governor Sir for meeting us it was an enriching experience for Amit and me …

While we are sharing it with you all we both still haven’t got time to get this opportunity and the meeting sink-in as after the meeting we rushed to the Café and how the day went by we didn’t come to know …

All we can say it’s the blessings of our family , love of our friends and guests and the determination & grit of Amit and me - which made this happen 💕…

शहतूत कोठी 💕 ॥

We have been thinking about it for very long - long before the construction began even much longer than that when we didn’t know that we will be settling in Corbett.

We both always had a strong feeling to built something which would be a reminder of our childhood days - the days we spent at our parental parent’s house - the बरामदा , आँगन, पेड़, पौधे, चिड़िया, किवाड़, गीली मिट्टी की ख़ुशबू, चूल्हा, आसमान, तारे, झींगुर, शाम की ठंडी हवा, मोर की आवाज़, खूब सारी बातें, मिट्टी से लीपा हुआ फर्श, पुरानी यादों से भरे हुए असबाब ( furnitures ) , black and white family albums must be an indispensable part of it and thus came the name of our handcrafted property- शहतूत कोठी ॥

Prior to beginning our construction we planted trees loads and loads of them infact we changed the design layouts to save our trees … Amongst the trees we planted are our शहतूत के पेड़- we have many of them ..

Till last year the birds , the labours and the villagers enjoyed the fruiting and this year we too will be able to taste our harvest …

This is the time when शहतूत starts fruiting and by mid - April it will be completely laden with riped शहतूत- we have both काले और सफेद शहतूत ॥

आजकल अमित, सुल्तान और मैं हम तीनों ही शहतूत के पेड़ों के नीचे ही अपना दिन बिताते हैं- ठंडी हवा और चिड़ियों के बीच ॥

Tanvi The Great - it’s not a movie it’s a passion, a dream, a vision , a promise which someone made to himself, a belief - कुछ भी हो सकता है, an honest intention and above all a ज़िद्द !!

Heartiest Congratulations to the team and the Captain Anupam Kher for making everyone believing in their dream , the accolades which the film , Shubhangi ( Tanvi ) and Sir Anupam Kher has been receiving on various platforms- Oscar Nomination, 24th Zee Cine Awards - Best Actress for Social Impact Award , Iconic Gold Awards 2026- Best Film Jury Choice , Iconic Good Awards - Best Film and Best Actress ( Jury Choice )…

We believe this is just the beginning 💕 ..

The movie is out on Amazon Prime - and it’s getting rave reviews from all those who believe in Good and Meaningful Cinema & who wish to watch a movie together with their families ..

Do watch it to be a part of the journey which Sir Anupam Kher started to bring some positive impact and it surely is bringing good results…

We too are glad to be part of his journey- as the shoot happened in our Café too - the day was 19th March 24 - a busy day with the cast and the crew , a day filled with happiness and joy for Amit and me , a day which will always be remembered lovingly by us 💕 ..

Sharing the trailer which has the scene shot at the Café - watching it is a complete nostalgia for us and yes we are reliving that day minute by minute 💕 …

On a busy Sunday we got a call from someone that she wished to book a table for 5 for lunch - the time she was seeking was completely booked so we suggested some changes and they happily agreed …

And then came Ms Geetanjali Pandit - Author of best selling books - Buddha at Work & Buddha in Love with her family …. She was so calm and composed & all smiling while waiting to get a table …

Not carrying any weight of being such a popular author what she carried was her charming and welcoming personality…

They loved our place , our food and in her words our - Distinct Hospitality…

Thanks a lot Geetanjali for your lovely words it keeps Amit and me going 💕 ..

She and her family left with a promise that they will be one of our earliest guests at - when we will start hosting which is very soon infact just a month or two away 😊 ..

It indeed was an enriching experience meeting you Geetanjali- a life lesson it was - you win over people not by what you achieve but by your warmth and love !!

Heartiest Congratulations to Ms Shail Jain on taking Oath as Judge of Delhi High Court on 24.7.25 …

Amit and me were very happy when we got this news from Ma’am herself- and knowing Ma’am we are sure many who are fighting for justice will have her on their side !!

It’s been such a pleasure knowing Ma’am - she visited our Café with her team & the
poised-composure she has is praiseworthy - when she came we were full & also about to close for our break-time but she was not at all forcing infact she didn’t even came-in knowing about the timings & that’s when we both knew she is a person with good heart & one who respects the operational aspects of any entity …

And cut to today we share such a great bond with Ma’am and when this news came-in we weren’t surprised at all - She is worth every bit of this accolade and many more to come !!!

We wish you all the very best Ma’am ❤️!!
