Gold Gadyana of Manuma Siddhi III, Telugu Cholas

The Telugu Cholas, also known as the Telugu Chodas, comprised several branches that ruled different parts of the Andhra country during the medieval period. Among them, the Nidugal or Nellore branch emerged as one of the most powerful. Its rulers controlled the Nellore region and, at various times, extended their authority into parts of present-day Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The dynasty claimed descent from the illustrious early Tamil Chola ruler Karikala Chola, reflecting its political and cultural connection with the Imperial Cholas of Tamil country.
Manuma Siddhi III, also known as Manmasiddha III, was one of the prominent rulers of the Nellore branch of the Telugu Cholas. He succeeded his father, Tikka Choda I, and ruled during the mid-13th century, at a time when the political landscape of southern India was marked by competition among the Cholas, Pandyas, Kakatiyas and other regional powers.

Silver Rupee of Chaurajit Simha, Manipur

Manipur Kingdom, historically known as Kangleipak, was an important Meitei kingdom in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent. Its royal history is recorded in the Cheitharol Kumbaba, the traditional chronicle of Manipur. The kingdom had close political relations with neighbouring Assam, Cachar and Burma.
The 18th century was an important period in Manipur's history. Under rulers such as Pamheiba, also known as Gharib Nawaz, the kingdom went through major political and religious changes. Vaishnavism also became increasingly influential. This troubled period is reflected in the coinage of Chaurajit Simha, an important ruler of Manipur in the early 19th century. Numismatic sources place Chaurajit after Labanya Chandra and Madhu Chandra. His coinage is generally dated to the early 1800s.

The Winged Bull on a Licchhavi Coin of King Jishnu Gupta

The Licchhavis ruled the Kathmandu Valley during Nepal’s classical period, broadly from the 5th to the 8th century CE. Their coinage represents one of the earliest substantial traditions of locally issued currency in the Kathmandu Valley and reflects the religious, cultural and artistic influences of the wider Indian subcontinent.
This dynasty is traditionally associated with the establishment of an important early kingdom in the Kathmandu Valley. Its rulers maintained political and cultural connections with the great powers of northern India while developing their own distinctive traditions. Inscriptions provide much of our historical knowledge of the period, while the surviving coins offer valuable evidence of political authority, religious beliefs and artistic expression. Licchhavi copper coins are particularly notable for their religious symbols and legends written in forms of the Gupta/Brahmi script.

Purna Purushottama Incarnate - The First Depiction on Coin

On this Occasion of Janmashthami, who would not like to know more about our beloved Lord Krishna. This article brings some new facets on Lord Krishna’s depiction on Indo-Greek King Agathokles’s coins 2200 years ago. ***
Lord shri Krishna's father, Vasudeva, was a prince and king of the Vrishni Kula. He was known as Anakadundubhi because celestial drums were played at his birth.
Kamsa, the king of Mathura heard an Akashvani (a divine prophecy) that eighth child of king Vasudeva - his Brother-in-Law, would cause death of Kamsa. Vasudeva’s wife and Lord Shri Krishna’s mother Devaki’s was the first cousin of Kamsa. King Kamsa imprisoned Vasudeva and his wife Devaki after a hearing this heavenly voice prophesied thus.

Rare Silver Tanka of Tripura’s King Vira Chandra Manikya

The Manikya dynasty of Tripura extends back several centuries. Traditional accounts recorded in the Rajmala, the royal chronicle of Tripura, trace the ancestry of the rulers to a much earlier period. Rulers such as Dharma Manikya and Dhanya Manikya expanded the kingdom and supported temples, literature, irrigation works and administration. Tripura developed into an important regional power in northeastern India.

The Manikya rulers maintained relations and conflicts with the neighbouring rulers of Bengal. Vira Chandra belonged to this long royal tradition. His reign was particularly significant because he pursued modernisation while maintaining the traditions of the Tripura court.

Lion on Silver Coin of Devgiri Yadava King Singhana Deva II

The Yadavas of Devagiri, also known as the Seuna Yadavas, were one of the most powerful dynasties of medieval Deccan India. Rising to prominence between the 9th and 12th centuries, they initially ruled as feudatories before establishing an independent kingdom with Devagiri (Daulatabad in Maharashtra, as their capital). Strategically located in the Deccan, Devagiri became an important centre of political power, trade, culture, and military activity.
The dynasty reached its greatest territorial extent during the reign of Singhana Deva II (c. 1200–1247 CE). He was one of the most successful rulers of the Yadava dynasty and transformed the kingdom into a major Deccan power. Through military campaigns, Singhana expanded Yadava influence over large parts of present-day Maharashtra and Karnataka and asserted his authority against neighbouring powers, including the Hoysalas and the Kakatiyas. His reign also witnessed considerable cultural and religious patronage, contributing to the development of Devagiri as a flourishing medieval centre.
