It is always preferable to wear natural organic pure silk , such as mulberry silk, tussar, eri, and muga silk, over synthetic alternatives like art silk, rayon, or viscose.
Authenticity: Pure silk sarees are made from natural organic silk threads obtained from silkworm cocoons, making it a sustainable and eco-friendly choice compared to synthetic materials. On the other hand, art silk, rayon, and viscose are manufactured from chemically treated wood pulp or other synthetic fibers. Pure silk sarees carry a sense of authenticity that cannot be replicated by any synthetic fabrics.
Breathability and comfort: Silk has excellent breathability, allowing air to circulate around the skin and keeping you cool in warm weather. It also helps to regulate body temperature, making it suitable for both hot and cold climates. Synthetic alternatives, on the other hand, tend to trap heat and moisture, leading to discomfort and excessive sweating.
Softness and luxurious feel: Pure silk is known for being incredibly soft and luxurious against the skin. Its smooth texture enhances comfort and creates a pleasant sensation. Synthetic fabrics like rayon and viscose often lack the same level of softness and can feel rough or unpleasant compared to pure silk.
Hypoallergenic properties: Silk is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for people with sensitive skin or allergies. It has natural proteins that can help soothe irritated skin and prevent allergic reactions. Synthetic fabrics like rayon and viscose however, contain chemicals and dyes that can cause skin irritations or allergic responses.
Durability and longevity: Pure silk sarees has excellent tensile strength and is durable if properly taken care for. It can last for generations without losing its quality or sheen. In contrast, synthetic silk sarees, however, tend to be less durable and have a shorter lifespan, prone to pilling, and more likely to wear out quickly.
Aesthetics: Natural silk has a distinctive luster and sheen, giving it an elegant and luxurious appearance, that cannot be replicated by synthetic alternatives. Natural silk drapes beautifully and enhances the elegance and sophisticated look of the saree. Synthetic silk may attempt to replicate the sheen of natural silk, but often falls short in achieving the natural graceful appearance.
Biodegradability: When disposed of, silk is biodegradable and does not contribute to environmental pollution. Synthetic fabrics like rayon or viscose, however, are not easily biodegradable and can release toxic chemicals during decomposition, harming the environment.
In summary, while pure silk sarees may be more expensive compared to synthetic alternatives, its numerous benefits make it a worthwhile investment. Pure silk sarees are considered superior due to their authenticity, durability, breathability, aesthetics, sustainability and in terms of comfort compared to art silk, rayon and viscose silk sarees.
