For the 75th anniversary of India's independence, NCPA invites all dance enthusiasts to witness The Journey of Footprints. An excerpt from Irayimman Thampi's "Uttaraswayamvaram" will be performed by students of Kalamandalam C Gopalakrishnan, Kalakshethram Renjish Nair, Nayana Prakash, and Ashwathi Pramod. An episode from the thirteenth year of exile of the Pandava princes, during which they stay in disguise at the palace of the King of Virata, is narrated in this story from Mahabharata.
During the show, Uttaran, son of Virata, will be seen enjoying his gala time with his two wives. Uttaran's character is portrayed through Kathakali, and his two wives perform the folk dance "Kumi" through Mohiniattam.
