What is psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a skin disease that causes a rash with
itchy, scaly patches, most commonly on the
knees, elbows, trunk and scalp. It can be painful,
interfere with sleep and make it hard to
concentrate. The condition tends to go through
cycles, flaring for a few weeks or months, then
subsiding for a while. Common triggers include
stress, strep infections, injury to the skin, and
certain medications.
When should you consult a doctor?
Consult a doctor if the condition:
& Becomes widespread or severe
Causes you discomfort or pain
Doesn't improve with treatment
Starts impacting your mental health
What can you do to ease psoriasis symptoms?
While psoriasis cannot be cured, here a few ways
to effectively manage mild symptoms at home:
-Prevent dry skin by using a humidifier to keep
the air around you moist. Use a sensitive skin-
friendly moisturiser
-Use aloe vera to reduce irritation and redness
caused by psoriasis
Avoid fragrances
-Eat anti-inflammatory foods like omega-3
fatty acids, nuts like almonds and walnuts, seeds,
kale, spinach, and salmon
-Avoid alcohol, refined sugar, red meat, and
saturated fats
-Quit smoking
Reduce stress through yoga and exercise.
